As of late I've been contemplating on 'what a home is' and why having a home is so important to me. To some a home is a place to put your feet up, hang your hat. For others the home is a place of minimalism. Some consider a home to be shelter, a roof over their head. I agree. Shelter is very important but does shelter make a home?
As a child studio apartments and other people's homes were my home. When my parent was finally able to purchase a house I got two rooms to do with what I choose. I was very meticulous about my color scheme, peach and mint green, and all the furnishing had to be bleached wood. Ha ha. I'm really glad my design taste has evolved. Even still my two rooms weren't enough. I always felt that the walls of my space begged for more.
Home is a place where I can fully be myself, where I can imagine, where I create. My home has to be stylish, comfortable, and orderly. I create beauty in my home. The interior dressings are not the only thing that make my home a work of art, they are accompanied by the laughter of quality friends and adored family, eclectic music or a good book, a complex glass of wine and a moment of inspiration. My home is an evolving museum of life. So I ask, what is a home to you?
"When we make the time to clear the space in our minds, we will find the infinite creative space that we all long for."
In life there are good teachers and there are less than adequate teachers, the real knowledge is knowing that you can learn from both.
Masked in deep complexity there is beauty so wondrous it is hard to describe. The sweet breath of the wind whistling across your cheek or the baby bud sprouting in it's infancy during the spring, only to grow old and wither away in the fall. These gifts of nature are a blessing of ultimate design which bring an abundance of joy to my life.
As the leaf sprouts from the stem of the branch Spring sprouts with it...
Spring is here let creativity shower you daily.
Its the afternoon, clouds and cold have taken over the temporary sun filled sky. I sit at my desk reviewing all of the projects that I need and want to complete. As they have so many times before Anxiety and her evil sister Stress have taken control of my body. I sip my English Breakfast and look out the window. The beautiful greenery seduces my visual senses. And then the thought came... "I want to create in so many different ways". My heart smiled at this inner talk and joy replace my fear.
...Contemplating how to find the beauty in that which is lacking. I spent the weekend focusing on finding something special in everyday trash. This photo was taken two years ago but I found it fitting for this thought.
As the weekend comes to a close and the work week begins I feel as though I haven't been as productive as I would have like too. But that is okay because some good things are coming and the week ahead is bound to be glorious! The shot above was taken with my new camera and I'm starting a Typography class this week... Let the designing begin.
If you would be so kind, I'd like to share with you my Christmas list and wishes. But first off, let me start by sharing with you that with the exception of the one too many glasses of Stag's Leap, I have been a remarkably good girl this year, quite angelic (as you know)... Santa before I share with you my Christmas list I'd like to express that though my fiance has not acted in the same adorable, admirable, angelic manner as I have, could you please find it in your heart to grant him at least one of his Christmas wishes? Please take note Santa that this is by no means part of my list but I just thought I'd throw it out there. :o)
Okay jolly one here goes...
I would like two front row/center VIP concert tickets with back stage passes to each of the following concerts... The Civil Wars, Mumford and Sons, and Justin Nozuka
And though I have seen DMB four times already I have yet to experience the intimacy of Dave and Tim in concert, so add that to the list as well... Oh and can you throw in a trip to Virginia so I can tour Blenheim Vineyards? I"d like tickets to a Paris fashion show, as I have never been to one, of course you would need to provide me with a round trip 1st class plane ticket and accommodations at the impeccably designed Four Seasons Hotel George V Paris... but what am I saying I know you can make it happen, you are Santa after all. I would also like an original Jeff White painting to hang on my wall so that when I pass it daily I can be inspired by the creativity and inspiration his work brings to the world. Additionally I would really enjoy having a set of Libbey Art Deco martini glasses (enough to serve at least 24) as I will be entertaining a lot in my new Craftsmen home that you will provide for me... you know the one with the Audi Q5 parked in the driveway... over looking the ocean (or lake) in Northern California or perhaps Seattle.
And finally, my last wish Santa and this is probably the most important one, I would like every human being, creature, critter, bug, and thing to experience love, joy, happiness, and peace everyday that they exist on this planet.
Well Santa, I'm confident that you can fulfill all of the wishes on my elf-like Christmas list. And in good faith Santa I vow to focus on how I can help RJ stay off the naughty list next year. Thanks Santa and Happy Christmas!_
"Design is conceived when an inherent need to be creative manifests itself into physical or visual form."
