Imagine a day perfectly dressed in the frigid gloom of winter. Grey clouds ornament the sky as soft snowflakes fall from the heavens on to the fluffy flesh of your pink hued cheeks. An icy wind grips your bundled body sending an unwelcoming chill through the stiffness of your bones, as you find yourself at the threshold of your front door. A gold glow seeps through the slender gaps of the barrier to your home, teasing the impending warmth from inside. Your uncomfortably cool hand grasp the handle of the brass knob as you push your way inside. What you find upon entering is a perfectly wrapped package of comfort; an illuminated wood fire complete with glowing embers and oak perfume, a steaming hot cup of Ambessa's chocolate nut tea seducing your sense of smell, and fuzzy wool socks abundant with a circus of colors awaiting your Popsicle toes... the gift of warmth.
A gift of warmth is exactly how I would describe the retro sounds produced by Lucy and La Mer. Quirky and poppy; if Nora Jones and Ingrid Michaelson fell down the rabbit hole Wonderland would echo the gentle vocals and indie rhythms of this fresh, contemporary band. Their 1st single "Just Friends" (available on iTunes) as hit the shelves. The song offer just a hint of the fun loving, easy going resonance fashioned by the group. This music is easy to love! I personally look forward to a complete album (and hope to be one of the first to review), but for now step out from the cold and check out their reverbnation.
